Due to bandwidth constraints, only members of our affordably priced RVElite subscription service may view ultra high quality videos.

Ultra high quality videos are encoded at a higher video resolution (640x480, the size of this light gray box), are sampled at bitrates of 4000+k/sec, have no compression added, and may be viewed by our valued RVElite members in full-screen mode.

Wow great video, how did you ever come across two strange things in less than a week?

Is the BNSF Dash 9 geared to go 80mph?

Posted by Andrew Wodziak on July 12, 2010

I honestly don't know because track speed there is 70 M.P.H. for Amtrak, and 45 M.P.H. for freight trains.

Posted by Tim in Omaha on August 13, 2010

Track speed is 79 MPH for passenger trains and 59 MPH for freights in CTC territory.

Nope, not through here, track speed on the Chicago Sub from Chicago to Aurora is 70MPH for passenger, 45 for freight. Also, when a freight engine leads Amtrak, it's restricted to 70MPH down the mainline.
