Remarks: Here is in three parts the ultimate steam event in the last 25 years. On two days a total of 12 steam engines come to Neuenmarkt. This town is on lower end of the first mountain line in europe, called Schiefe Ebene, built between 1844 and 1848, 4,2 miles long and 2.3% heavy. For more in history of this line take a look to Wikipedia with this link. --> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schiefe_Ebene <-- The engine list is very long, but i think it's necessary to write all of them here. 01 1066, 01 118, 01 533, 01 509 (all 4-6-2 pacifics), 58 311, 52 8195, 50 3501 (2-10-0 frieght), 38 1301 (4-6-0), 41 018, 41 1144 (2-8-2) and last 64 491 (2-6-2) and 65 1049 (2-8-4). The Type 64 and 65 engines are short distance units without tenders. To the video: This is part one and we are alongside tracks on 2.3% grade. Most of the steam trains on day one, May 22, 2010, we see. The trains run in a fixed schedule every 30 minutes the hill up to Marktschorgast and then the hill down back to Neuenmarkt. Every train has another combination of the engines. Every train comes with rear end helpers, mostly necessary, sometimes comes dobbleheader with helpers, too. Enjoy the show and please don't forget to take a look to part 2 and 3!
