Remarks: Class 89 No. 89001 (electric) arriving Doncaster station and changing locomotives to LNER Mallard (steam) on Sunday 3 July 1988. This was the 50th Anniversary tour to celebrate the record set by a steam locomotive of 126 MPH. The other locomotive featured is the class 91 No. 91003 which would form the regular motive power on the East Coast mainline. The class 89 was in service for a short time being a non-standard design.
