Remarks: UP manifest MWIAD departs for Adams, WI in late afternoon using trackage rights over the CP. This train uses a caboose for the conductor to ride during the backup move out of the Winona UP yard onto the CP mainline, in this case an old Missouri Pacific transfer caboose.
I was a steam locomotive fireman on the D M & I R Ry. at Two Harbors Mn. 1947-1950 and then the Northern Pscific Ry. out of Duluth, Mn. and then the Mn.Transfer Ry. in the Twin Cities, The M & St. L. and the G.N. ending my RR career in Aug. of 1954. I was considered a `boomer`. I spent the rest of my working career working in steam boiler rooms with chillers and emergency electric generators etc. (HVAC) as a Stationary Engineer. I retired in 1988. I receive a pension from the I.U.O.E. Life has been good.
I enjoyed looking at all the videos as they brought back many memories.
