Remarks: Amtrak's Northeast Regional 66 had no trouble making its stop at Ashland on October 3rd, but as it started moving again the engineer hit the brakes just before the College Avenue crossing. After a brief pause they got underway again. this time with confidence.

He stopped again because he had to wait for the gates to go back down on the crossing.

Looks like the gates were on the way back up as he started up, so he stopped until they came back down.

Seems to me that the crossing gates were not down, that might be the reason for the 2nd stop. Also I noticed the the markers on the head end of the engine were on. let me know if you agree. rrman-1@tampabay.rr.com

I think I was so busy focusing on the train itself I didn't even notice the gate movement. Thank you, gentlemen.

He went on the breaks because though the lights were flashing the entire time, the gates went back up.
