Remarks: Following the train west toward L'Anse after departing Euclid yard late in the afternoon. Scene 1: At a grade crossing near Humboldt Junction. Note the smoke coming from the trucks of the trailing unit! The brakes appeared to be dragging, judging by the stench of burned friction lining material as it passed the camera. Scene 2: Passing through Champion. Scene 3: Running along the shore of a frozen Lake Michigamme, then passing the old Ohio mine location just west of Michigamme as dusk set in.

He is in dynamics, and may be using his independents (locomotive) brakes. Sometimes, though, we forget to knock off the handbrakes when starting out. Judging by how the second unit's trucks are smoking and the first aren't, I'd say you're right.
