Remarks: My first road trip with my video gear was to Colorado. Watch as the 5378 east must stop and allow an empty coal extra to pass. This for sure is my all time favorite START UP video! I hope to come out with a "Best Of" DVD some day.

I wish I could have seen these roaring monster lashups of tunnel motors in person.

My favorite start up video on Rail-Vids now too. Can't beat the sound of those SD40t-2s stepping up. Good job.

Nice Video Bob, I like the way the SD40T-2 go into dynamic braking.

Nice video, love the sound of the T-2s throttling up!! It seems that last one on the head end, 5386, is having loading issues. Listen close when it passes, and instead of it winding up, you can actually hear the turbo spool down to near idle, then the heavy smoke starts pouring out..not good.

My dad worked for the Rio Grande, so I was very fortunate to witness the sights and sounds of this great railroad. To me, the Rio Grande was the best railroad ever. I would like to thank Bob Rivard for sharing his fine work with all of us.

Outstanding!! I like the new power that is out and about now days but I was brought up on trains as a kid because dad loved them too and I will always be a 2nd generation EMD kid. There is nothing that can compare to the sites and sounds of those big SD units getting the job done and Mountain railroading is and always will be my favorite. I have a couple of these SD40T-2's in HO and yes they are Rio Grand units! Great work on the video and thank you for posting it. Paulie
