Remarks: Part 3 of a busy sequence at Cresson, PA on the afternoon of June 27, 2009.
As the 6303 and 6311 continued west they passed another eastbound led by patched C40-8W 8400 and all-black C40-8W 8361 sandwiching C40-9W 9522. The tail of the first eastbound was still in sight, so the 8400 and friends had to pause momentarily at the signal, the only point in the whole sequence where I stopped the camera. The second eastbound got moving again after a few minutes' wait, offering a long look at a large string of hazmat tank cars in the consist. The end of the second eastbound came into view with its SD40E helpers following close behind. Before they could get closer though, SD40-2s 3374 (with a slightly different lettering font on its long hood?) and 3344 stole the scene for a moment as they rolled west, saluting the crowd that had gathered further down from where I stood. Finally, the sequence wrapped up as cleaned-and-pressed 6302 and 6309 walked slowly past as the eastbound they had just helped up the West Slope continued on its way.
