That's not bashing cars at all. If anything it was the conductor giving the engineer a bad car count; but they couple to the car, and come to a stop. That's how it goes in railroading.

Although it may seem a little loud, that was a pretty darn good hitch. The conductor car count was way off but that is pretty common, especially if the conductor is riding on the car.

That's not so big a bump at all...I have seen much worse here at Eola where the car the string hit seemed to rise up in the air about an inch upon impact.

Railroad rules generaly allow up to 4 mph for coupling. The above comments pretty much say it all.
