Remarks: "Q409 hold at Vaughan Road, we've got a northbound local extra coming at you..." Those were the words from the dispatcher to a southbound freight approaching Ashland later in the afternoon on March 30. While Q409 waited in the distance, we found out just what a 'northbound local extra' entailed as SD60M 8781, SD40-2 8150, and C40-8 7500 sailed through Ashland with a solid train of TTX and DODX flatcars carrying battle-damaged Humvees, recently returned from Iraq and now headed north for disposition.
