Remarks: ES44DC 5395 and C40-8 7557 charge past the Ashland station with a northbound intermodal (symbol unknown) on August 2, 2008. I got a little too absorbed in watching the train go by, but snapped out of it in a hurry when I panned around and saw a headlight coming the other way. I backed up to the curb's edge and braced as ES44DCs 5279 and 5467 blew past in the other direction with Q741. On the bright side, it was hot that day and the breeze was nice...

WOW!!! That second train almost blew you away! Could you have gotten any closer to the tracks? I have a good friend in Broadlands, VA. I assume he knows just where that station is. The second train was hauling a few Tropicana railcars probably back to Florida. Amazing Video!!! The engineer probably blew his horn to warn you you were too close.

In the opening of the clip, I had two legs of the tripod positioned on the little concrete strip separating the bricks from the ballast. When the second train went by, I had moved everything the other direction as far as I could without going into the street. I shoot a lot more from the sidewalk across the street on that side of the tracks now, or at least keep my eyes on the second track.
