Remarks: Conrail Elkhart to Indianapolis ELIN with leader 6173 appears to have turbocharger problems as she accelerates past the diamond at Marion, Indiana. Looks like a Alco at work. Scene from DVD# H8-20.

Alcos were prone to turbo lag. I never had a turbo go bang on me, but I am told that it makes a LOT of noise. I have not had much to do with GE units, so don't know how prevalent it is for turbo problems on them. Good video.
