Remarks: Norfolk Southern domestic container train 26T (Chicago, IL - Harrisburg, PA) heads downgrade behind a black and blue lashup as it winds its way down famous Horseshoe Curve on the east slope of Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line across the Alleghenies. Usually this train is almost a mile and a half in length...so where were the REST of the containers it should have had? Down on the ground on the other side of the mountain at "NY" (Portage, MP PT 258.8) getting itself cleaned up and re-railed. A flat wheel eventually shot off the axle, and consequently ripped up the tracks for 3 miles before finally jumping the rails in Portage, slicing up the 258.9 defect detector in the process. Shot on Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line on 2/20/09, the temperature...11 degrees F. Periodically taking the gloves off to take apart the 4-piece camcorder proved to be excruciating.

Excellent video Mike. It's nice seeing some snow at the curve.

I went up to Horseshoe Curve last summer and found that, that is the best place to watch trains.

Wow Mike! Nice catch to get the train involved in the accident at Wilmore and Portage. I got some follow-up videos of the MoW work in the area, including rail train delivering new rail. Great video and great effort in the freezing temps.

Great video, Mike!
