I was the engineer on this train. There were several high ranking CSX officials aboard, including Vice President of Operations Tony Ingram and Chicago Division Manager Jeff White. Although the speed of the train at this location was limited to 60 mph over the diamond, the train was operated at passenger train speeds. The Chicago Division timetable in effect at that time allowed 79 MPH maximum on most of the route. The current timetable does not include passenger train speeds.
