Remarks: I had no idea what this fellow was up to when he stood up as NS 18N autorack rounded the curve at Cassandra. Since it was the 4th of July, he may have been out celebrating. I thought I was about to witness a horrible tragedy as he crosses the tracks, either getting hit by the 18N or by another train coming from the other direction. The conductor on the lead engine checks him out as they pass. Sure was worth risking your life for, buddy!

Considering the amount of red necks who live north of the tracks in this area, I bet this happens from time-to-time. Nice power on the 18N!

Posted by Derek Buel on January 4, 2009

Wow! I noticed he placed something on the tracks, what was it?

Posted by Nathan Herring on January 4, 2009

Nice vid Joseph, the idiocracy of some people amazes me.

Eric, I've seen some others on this strech of track, but this guy was one of he strangest! Derek, I have no idea what he put on the track, but I would guess a coin. Thanks, Nathan, it does me too!

That was close, what was that guy thinking?

Posted by csf on January 5, 2009

Is that person crazy!? He could have been mowed down and killed instantly if he went on the tracks about 2 minutes later or less!!

Posted by CT on January 8, 2009

Wow, three blue units out of four. Such a nice consist to step out in front of.

Sure, the guy is an idiot, and he is trespassing, but come on guys.... he was nowhere near to getting struck by that train.

I agree with the comment right above mine. I'd dare to say that over half of you that have commented on this video have ventured onto the right-of-way when there is an oncoming train at that distance...

Posted by Tyler Martynuska on January 15, 2009

Thats Jimmy Vassoloni. He lives right near there. He is a little slow though.

Posted by Amtraker on January 14, 2013

"That was close?" Are you kidding me? You people are making a big deal out of nothing. He had time to make a peanut butter sandwich and eat it before the train got to where he was. If this is all you can find to complain about, you guys needs to get a life!
