Remarks: During 1988 the CSX line south of Spartanburg still used cabooses, while the line north of Spartanburg had reached an agreement with the crews to run cabooseless trains. This video clip starts out with a unit coal train crew backing their power to the train. A local crew then arrives and quickly gets their 3 engines out of the way. The coal train then pulls forward picks up a caboose. After a lengthy brake test, they finally depart with a friendly wave from the caboose.
