Interesting how the lead helper unit appeared to have a crew.. is this because the locomotives lacked the automation of today's modern engines? Or would they be manned so they could separate at some later point and return downrange and help another train? Great video!

I thought it was interesting that you could see not only the exhaust from the lead consist, but also the exhaust from the helper consist at the very beginning of the video. Excellent work.

That was an awesome display of EMD locomotives. Before wide cabs and ditch lights, not so long ago.
