Remarks: A southbound UP loaded coal drag crosses Las Vegas Blvd. at Jean, Nevada, doing every bit of its authorized 60mph speed limit. We can thank the railfan in the foreground for the heavy horn activity.. he decided with the train less than 45 seconds away that it would be a good idea to run across the truss bridge and kneel between the rails to take photos, vacating the track just before this video was started. The crew were understandably none too pleased with this fellow's antics.

It's that kind of bonehead that gets the conductor on the radio to the UPPD or dispatcher. Soon then he'll be the first guy to bit__ on the on line forums about the UNfriendly SA's that ran him off for "no reason". Even being a fan myself I have no second thoughts of calling someone like that in.

T&E, I agree totally. I left almost immediately after the head end power was by, as I didn't want to be standing around these two with a camera in my hand (guilt by association) when the cops showed up!

What a total moron that guy is. It's a shame that people, like that, ruin it for everyone else. And, I agree with T&E, that he'll be the first to complain.

Wow what a goofball! Its people like this that could ruin railfanning for everyone. Plus it puts a lot of stress on the crews. Nice video though!

Interesting the differing thoughts on careless behavior by railfans. I am both a driver ( engineer in US parlance ) and a railfan and generally could care less about reckless behavior. I certainly would never get on the blower to call the cops. I figure "if this monkey gets killed I get time off with pay and it sure as hell won't be my fault". Sadly many of my colleagues will report reckless behavior when in fact there was none, they just hate rail fans. As to the above. well 45 seconds is usually more time than you get before the crossing gates lower so I fail to see any problem other than trespass.
