Along Sugar Run Road below RT 17. Can anyone tell me why some autorack unit trains have only one locomotive and some have two? Please comment and tell me if you know.
James, one or two locos may just depend on if an auto rack train is loaded or empty. Compared to other more traditional freight trains, a unit auto rack train is not that heavy.

As an x railroad worker for burlington northern (1972-1974) i belive that when they have only one locamotive , the cars are empty , and when they are loaded they need two or more locomotives depending on the number of cars and availability of locomotives I may not be right but at least its close.Keep up the great work james.
