Where was this train going and what was it doing? Was it a rare milage trip? How do I get aboard? Cool.

From reading online, I discovered she was headed to Indianapolis. Took the IC down to Effingham, then turned east on the old IC Indianapolis division, over to Newton, then Indiana RR (continuation of former IC) over to Indianapolis.
