That's just great! What a memory.

Reminds me of what the Alcos made for sound.

Jack, that's a awesome video. I have been to this spot a few times but not with that kind of power. Great job once again.

What a beautiful place to take video! Those dwarf signals make it all the better. I love the hypnotic chugging of those big GE's.

Man those GE's sound oh so sweet!

Starts out like a snail.

He was not starting. He has been on a constant pull up Sand Patch grade with no helpers and was just about stalled. Somehow he recovered, and started getting it rolling after he crested the grade. I bet the amps where in the red for a good while. Thanks for looking, Jackmp294

Jack that is awesome footage! I sure do miss those old "Rock Crushers".

That was excellent! Since my teen years in the 1970s, I've always enjoyed the music from 4-cycle GEs chugging hard. These look like Dash-7s which have the same body style as the old "U-boats" and sound just as loud. Thanks for posting this.

Listen to them growl! I bet you could feel them a mile away.

Sounds like an underpowered train to me!!

Nice Video. Mixed nostalgia with the old GE's and location.

I must have viewed this clip about 25 times with the Audio cranked up. The location is idea as was the matched power. There's fewer and fewer Series-7 GE's in service today. The U-Boats weren't liked by either Crews or, Shop Guys. The series 7 models were a vastly superior Locomotive. The Dash-8's changed the picture considerably. I think that most of the C-30-7's are long gone now. What a wonderful racket !
