Right around 03:43; notice the flag, the kids playing on swings and the SD-40s. Not quite mom and apple pie but close.

Man Alive! That is one steep incline, especially when the train has to be broken down into thirds. If you have any more please upload.

Love it!!! I've been to the Saluda grade a few times. I've walked the length from Saluda to Melrose and it is a MONSTER grade..

This strech of rail is now out of service from Landrum SC to somewhere around Hendersonville NC. It is a historic line, local historical societys have tried to buy/preserve it, and NS wont let it go. NS is letting it rot away. I used to live in Landrum and watch the coal drags run. I have seen many close calls at Hwy 14, even got to see them stopping in the morning to eat at Ayres, and then in the evening to eat at Kents!!! I loved sitting a melrose with my family and watching them work. Walked the runaway track once too, got to the bridge and couldn't go any further. It was missing too many beams and ties... Wish we, the railroad fans, could save this world famous stretch of rail.
