Remarks: "Wait a minute, that's a GP15-1!" I remember yelling to my railfanning buddy when this train got close enough for us to identify its locomotive power. In the early days following the Conrail split with CSXT, it seemed as though NS didn't have a locomotive assignment policy other than, "If it will move tonnage, run it!" At 9:01am on Saturday, April 29, 2000, NS GP15-1 #1435 is really "talking" as it leads NS C39-8 #8574 and southbound Triple Crown Roadrailer train #251 through the milepost 118.7H grade crossing in Dallas, Georgia, on NS's Atlanta North District. This was one of only two ex-Conrail GP15-1s that I was fortunate enough to see in Georgia before the entire fleet was retired early in 2007.
