Remarks: Scene One reveals the chaotic nature of SP motive power after the DRGW takeover as a mismatched trio of EMDs drops through the Redlands Crossovers westbound. Scene Two features a mixed quartet of Santa Fe EMDs descending Sullivan’s Curve on Cajon Pass with a westbound. Scene Three displays the efforts of five SP SDs as they ease a trainload of Utah coal down the Palmdale Cutoff toward West Colton. In a stunning antitheses of the previous clip, Scene Five depicts a pair of CNW SDs making a quick decent off Cajon with a short train at Devore. Scene Six, shot just over a mile down the same mainline, shows the Birmingham-Los Angeles westbound with pool power at Verdemont. Scene Seven portrays the Cotton Belt’s last B40–8 leading a westbound through the orange groves of lower San Timoteo Canyon near Redlands. The finale features the clang of Colton’s West E Street crossing bells that like a pair of dysfunctional metronomes set a discordant rhythm to the SD60M, SD60, C40–8 trio easing their way into town to await their shot at Colton Crossing that was occupied by an SP.

Someday, I hope to find Scene Four. Until then, subtract one after Scene Three and it all works out.
